Who me?

Jazz was over a hundred feet away, the focal length in 35mm terms is 1200mm. In 35mm terms one would also need two Sherpas, one carrying the heavy tripod and the other carrying the massive lens. This was hand held.

That's amazing John, such clarity, you must have a very steady hand. A really splendid shot.
John Prior: More due to clever inbuilt stabilisation I think smile
haha very true. I remember when my dad bought a Pentax in the 60s the booklet showed the range of lenses available. The 1000 mm one came with its' own (large) tripod

The quality of this picture says a lot about the quality of the camera and the steadiness if your hand!
John Prior: I had use of a Pentax SV and S1A while at college in the sixties, and bought a Spotmatic when I started working in the early seventies, I used that camera for over twenty years, even survived a dunk in a rock pool.

A lovely shot John and an amazing feat too - you clearly have lived a blameless life to have such steady hands!
John Prior: More down to the optical and electronic stabilisation I think, I'm sure I could get even better results with a little support.
Wonderful shot John smile Jazz is looking alert!
John Prior: Just wondering how to disobey the next commandsmile
Well done John, and there is still reasonable Depth of Field.
John Prior: Depth of field is also greater with the small sensor than it would be with a 35mm frame. This camera is not up to the quality of my full frame or Sony NEX, but it certainly presents the possibility of getting shots that might otherwise be missed. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/canon_sx_50_review.shtml
Exceptional shot - and Jazz has developed into a beautiful girl!!
