Golden hour at Aberystwyth

This stretch of welsh coast faces west, so gets some great sunsets. Aberystwyth pier opened in 1865, seven months later it lost 98ft of its structure in a winter storm. In 1938 a fierce storm with winds of 90mph destroyed the sea front promenade along with 200 feet of the pier. The covered part is a restaurant and amusement hall, the remainder of it is not open to the public.

The end of the pier has reopened to the public now.
John Prior: Thank you Rory, for the local knowledge, I remember now seeing that you had taken some shots from the pier. Dad

This is terrific John with everything simply bathed in that glorious light
John Prior: Thank you Chris
Lovely picture, John. Irresistible light. I hadn't heard that Aberystwyth had been ceded to Holland, though!
John Prior: Thanks Graeme, they have the flags of all nations along the seafront, not uncommon practise, but also as a university town I suppose they want to feel and look international smile
what great golden light too
John Prior: Thank you Chantal
Never has Aberystwyth looked better.
John Prior: Thank you Bill
Nice image. I'm wondering about that flag? It looks like Bolivia's??
John Prior: Thanks Juan, it is The Netherlands, they have the flags of all nations along the seafront, not uncommon practise, but also as a university town I suppose they want to feel and look international smile

I have never seen Aberystwyth look so good John, great evening light smile
John Prior: It was a great evening, Aberystwyth does have an individual character, my son went to Aber Uni and runs his software business from there, so I know it well.
Fabulous light John. I've only visited Aberystwyth once for a flying visit, I should go back.
John Prior: Aber is the only large town for miles around, It used to have the lowest crime rate in the country and was seen as a very safe university choice. Thanks Brian
