We almost never see something like this in the Protestant countries, John, like even here in The Netherlands. But once you get south of us, the Roman Catholic influence is everywhere. We didn't see anything like this while in Belgium over the weekend but we sure saw plenty else, like all the holy niches. You sure do a good job of photo-journalism!
John Prior: Thanks Ginnie, yes very true, somehow the old Catholic traditions manage to survive in the modern world, and long may they do so. Italy, especially the south, is unique in that it has two influences that have shaped its character, the Church and the Mafia.
Beautifully sharp picture John. I find religious ceremonies very strange
John Prior: Thanks Bill, yes strange but fascinating.

I do find such things fascinating. It's not something I see here in America.
John Prior: Thanks Otto, really the domain of Catholic countries.
