We have these around here - but I suppose a lot of people do
John Prior: Thanks Chris, Yes indeed, makes one feel protected on a sunny day smile
Great picture! I like the way you captured this!
Take care: Big Brother is watching you!
Have a nice day.
John Prior: Thank you for visit.
A good idea it it is too John.
John Prior: Thanks Ron, yes in principle.
Great clarity. I cant say I have seen this sign where I live smile
John Prior: Thank you Linda - not sure it makes any difference.
I used to think this was a good idea. But (when we lived in UK) an elderly lady further up our road died, and was only discovered 2 weeks later, when her neighbour alerted the police. The neighbour was on the neighbourhood watch committee. It seems she didn't do much watching, and that also dispelled the "curtain-twitcher" theories. .
John Prior: Thanks Sheila, I kind of agree, most people don't really want to know.

Our neighborhood association has hired off-duty policemen, etc. to patrol our neighborhood. It's been somewhat effective.
John Prior: Thanks Otto, sounds like a good idea. We pay so much in local council taxes for services including policing, not sure many people would or could fund any kind of private security.
We are in a neighbourhood watch area but nobody ever sees anything
John Prior: Thanks Bill, I agree, most people can't gather enough energy to wish one the time of day.
We used to have one of thse but it just seemed to fizzle out a few years ago.
John Prior: Thanks Brian, not sure if it means much, with everybody minding their own businesssmile

Well, I don't have any experience with neighbourhood watch either. I suppose it once worked and everyone felt safe and included? So don't people care anymore? Is life too fast-paced? Is everyone too immersed in their own lifes or just plain ignorant?
Actually, a bit sad if you think about it.
