The last in this series. Sir Walter Scott popularised this historic site in his novel 'Kenilworth' published in 1821. It tells the fictionalised story of the secret marriage of Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester and his ambitious flirtation with Queen Elizabeth I.

I like this more distant view that gives us a good feel for the features surrounding the ruins. The heavy clouds add to the drama of the shot.

Dark brooding sky descending on bright, happy greens and blue... I expect Merlin to make an appearance any mminute...

And I would LOVE to see this after soft snowfall, too. Any chance of you going back there during winter?
