The horse's mouth

Shot during the seventies. I have not used my 35mm film scanner for some time and Canon stopped supporting it in 2006. I was pleased to be able to update my version of VueScan purchased way back in 2001 to the latest version for free, VueScan supports over 2000 different scanners and the latest Mac, Windows, Linux operating systems. Ed Hamrick who now works with his son, has developed this software since 1998 and according to Wikipedia sells US$3 million licenses a year, not bad for a family business.

A lovely powerful image John: it would be nice to see more old scanned stuff if you've managed to get everything updated

I like this 'close-up' John. All classes! blimey, I did not realise you could go 'first class' on these.
John Prior: A chance to rub shoulders with the hoi polloi Chad smile
nicely taken John!
John Prior: Thank you smile
Very good scanned shot John, I'm enjoying doing scans for SC., I have one of the Plustek range although I still haven't quite mastered scanning from B.& W.negatives as yet.
John Prior: The latest version of VueScan is pretty sophisticated and gets the max shadow detail out of the film, by scanning at up to 64bits and saving as a digital RAW or DNG file, quite slow at 4000dpi though, I've not tried multiple pass scans yet.
A good advert for the scanner and the software John.
John Prior: Thanks Bill, both are good, but it still takes quiet a lot of time to arrive at a reasonable end result.
