Reminds me of my favourite Dada and Surrealist artist, Max Ernst. Went to his excellent retrospective at the Tate in 1991, marking the centenary of his birth.

Interesting, there seems to be quite a disagreement as to whether it is wood sand. I think it's wood and it makes for a good image.
John Prior: I think Mary is referring to wood that has been exposed to coastal elements, although this was inland.
