An afternoon at the museum V

The workshop and the 'Flying Scotsman' undergoing restoration. The work will take untill 2015 as substantial repairs have to be done to the middle steam cylinder, involving removal of the boiler and all three cyliners before the locomotive can once again grace the tracks. The museum has spent £2.89 million so far on repairs that were originally estimated at £750,000

Fabulous black & white John! Wonderful to see the renovations of such a historic and grand train as the Flying Scotsman smile

That's the trouble with those classic beasts, they do cost rather a lot of money when things go wrong..

That's a lot of money, John, but they obviously think it'll be worth it one day! Great photo op in the meantime.
There was a program recently about the bloke who took the Flying Scotsman around America and eventually bankrupted himself.

It looks almost too clean and tidy John.
Very clean workshop there isn't it. There has been a lot of controversy over the ever increasing cost of renovating the Scotsman, I do wonder if it will actually ever be finished.
