I hate to use the word iconic...but
John Prior: I keep wondering if the original intention was to create a giant helter skelter, but no doubt health and safety concerns, a lift to the top and then stairs down seems a bit of an anti-climax, although all the tickets had been sold for this structure.

GOBSMACKED, John. WOW. This is the best image I've seen of it to date!
John Prior: I like Anish Kapoor, saw his retrospective at the Royal Academy. He has big ideas.

Fabulous shot. GREAT angle. We have seen this so many times on TV. It must have been great to be there.
I heard that the Para-Olympics are about to start too. What an event!!!!!
John Prior: Thank you Astrid, yes looking forward to those also, have a day pass ticket for the ExCel centre. Despite some negative media reports before the event it all went well, beyond expectations.
I can't make my mind up about this, not your pic' John! smile I like that, but the structure itself, perhaps you have to see it in real life.
John Prior: I keep wondering if the original intention was to create a giant helter skelter, but no doubt health and safety concerns, a lift to the top and then stairs down seems a little boring.
Great shot John. How wonderful to have been there
John Prior: Thanks Janet, glad I did not miss it.
I still haven't worked out what the point of this thing was....perhaps it has no point and just exists for the Hell of it.
John Prior: Thanks Bill, I liked the structure, they should have done more with it, a giant helper skelter would have been a tad more exciting.

I have to say that this is a very good view of Anish's creation John.
John Prior: Thanks Chad, I rather like Mt Kapoor's work
This does raise all sorts of passions both for and against, I'm a bit like Bill, what's the point, but you have made a very good picture of it, the best I've seen.
John Prior: I like Anish Kapoor, saw his exhibition at the Royal Academy, he has big ideas. I think it was a pity the Orbit was not put to more exciting use, although it was booked solid throughout the games.
Great angle and framing against the cloud - it does look like a helter skelter smile
John Prior: Yes, that is the stairway down, I wonder if plans were modified in the name of health and safety. Thanks Martin
great angle, makes the shot!
John Prior: Thanks a lot Sesan
Whoa! The contrast between the red and the blue really works! grin Opened the page and first thing that went trough my head was "whoa!" ... yup, that usually is a good thing grin
