Great Missenden Church

Nobody knows when the first church was built at Great MIssenden, but there appears to have been one on or near the site from when the Abbey was founded in 1133. St Peter and St Paul church can be dated from the 14th century and the tower seems to contain a lot of recycled material, possibly from the demolished Abbey. On a hillside setting, this is where author Roald Dahl rests, many affectionate tributes are left at his grave, chocolate bars, tokens and childrens drawings inspired by his wonderful stories.

This is lovely John: there really does seem to be a lot of history in that solid building. Another place to put on the visit list.
