Now demolished and removed, a local businessman had wanted to build a hotel on it.

The light on the water is great, John. I remember this jetty being operational. For some reason small boats were occasionally dropped from it by a crane, presumably to test their ruggedness.
John Prior: Thanks Graeme, I enjoyed my afternoon at Southend, I was tempted to try and get on to the jetty, but the security fence forbade, but I did get a good shot underneath it also.

That doesn't look at all safe. Amazing tones in the reflection. Seems as if it's reflecting the decay.
John Prior: Thanks Sherri, I was lucky with the evening light.
Oh my, this one screams HDR, Beautiful spot for photographing
John Prior: Thanks Marion, this sort of subject always has potential.

How on earth this is still being left rather than dismantled I don't know but it is a good subject for your camera John.
John Prior: Thanks Brian, it has gone now!
I'm glad you have recorded it John, a wonderfully ugly structure bathed in glorious light
John Prior: Thanks Bill, ugly but interesting, I suppose more industrial heritage gone forever.

A place that recalls old times, lost times. And architecture of lost memories, lost mythologies. A place to contemplate as well as this photo.
