Hello Monkey

This huge stuffed toy has for many years been hanging 40ft up in a derelict sawmill. On the bank of the Grand Union Canal at Rickmansworth.

An amusing shot, John. I assume he's stuffed with local sawdust.
John Prior: Thanks Graeme, whatever it is, it has lasted well smile

a most unlikely critter smile
John Prior: Thanks Sherri, Yes very, but has withstood the weather for many years so must have been well made.
It makes for an interesting shot. Don't you just wonder "why"?!
John Prior: Thanks T, It must have started out as a prank, but has been there for many years now, has withstood the elements rather well.

Good grief: this is both odd & intriguing John
John Prior: Rickmansworth's answer to King Kong, dangerous for blonds to walk along the tow path, thanks Chris smile
Sad but funny.
John Prior: Thanks Bill, I think this must have been a joke from the narrow boat community that live along this stretch of the canal.

In this photograph it could be made of steel and quite large.
John Prior: Thanks Chad, It is very large, and must have been an expensive toy, and someone took a lot of trouble and risk climbing this old structure. It has been there for at least 15 years.
An amusing image John. The monkey looks like it needs a wash. It looks like a fairly large monkey. Well spotted.
John Prior: Thank you Laurette, yes it was a life sized toy.
From what I remember of Rickmansworth this would no doubt be the main tourist attraction John.
John Prior: Thanks Brian, I'm not sure that is very fair on Rickmansworth smile
A creepy monkey in an industrial landscape! Nicely done! And well seen!
Have a nice day.
John Prior: Thanks Dom, it has been there a long time.
