The mound, Oxford

Oxford Castle, or mound, was the site of the castle built in 1071 shortly after the Norman conquest. The castle was of a motte and bailey design with the bailey being located where Oxford Prison is now sited. Only the mound of the motte and St George's Tower now remain. Interestingly the city walls predate the castle.

An excellent capture John. The cyclist makes the picture.
Yes you were so lucky to get someone at the top of the hill John, it needed a person I feel to give it scale.

Interesting to read the history behind this scene. When I first viewed it, I thought what an unexpected landscape. The mound between the trees seems so out of place somehow.

This is awesome, John. A special bonus is the cyclist to give us scale.
Great angle to catch this bicycle man between the two big trees. Nice composition!
Have a nice day.

Splendid dual nature and well-composed, especially catching the biker central to the frame (adds this wonderful, contented element).
