Hill Farm

Hill farmers have a pretty tough time of it, relying on revenue from sheep mainly. I saw that one more farm had been boarded up this January trip. At least there is the potential of catering for more adventurous tourist visitors in surroundings like these of the Elan Valley.

So idyllic. Really mesmerising!

How about salmon farming?
John Prior: Thanks London, I don't think they'd let them do that in the reservoirs smile

Great scene capture there
John Prior: Thanks Vintage smile
Beautiful, each element (sky, foreground, etc.) is at it's fullest potential of beauty yet they compliment each other so nicely.
John Prior: Thank you very much smile

Wow! Superb landscape !
Never saw such white trees !
John Prior: Thanks Sidney, the trees tend to get covered in Lichen here.
Those trees in the front look like clumps of coarse cotton wool while the green "hedge" at the back reminds me of a caterpillar scaling the hill.
John Prior: Thanks Sheila, that's what I thought, it does look alien compared to the rest.
Magnificent colours John this is a beautiful shot
John Prior: Many thanks Bill
You should see the farmhouse deriliction in the Peak District John .
John Prior: The bigger farmers do all right, but the smaller ones have a hard time making ends meet.

A lovely upland scene John: those silver trees are wonderful
John Prior: Thanks Chris, all the broadleaf trees seem to get covered in lichen around these parts.

A beautiful isolated spot, but these places can be lonely.
John Prior: Thanks Chad, I personally like solitude, but I realise it's not for all.
Oh these images are making me want to return to the Elan valley.
John Prior: Thanks Brian, It always seems different and new when I visit.
I bet they drive a 4x4 for the winter, its a lovely view smile
John Prior: Thanks Linda, yes but they tend to be old and battered, and not the shinny new machines of the lowland farmers smile
Beautiful landscape John..but the trees look strangely white.
John Prior: Thanks Ron, all the broadleaf trees tend to get covered in lichen here, which makes them look lighter.

John Prior: Thank you Sherri
