There's enough stone left to build a Roman road or viaduct, John!
John Prior: Thanks Ginnie, being Wales I suppose there was never any shortage of water so the road could have been a better option smile

Remains of industry - north Wales perhaps?
John Prior: Mid Wales Chris, old mine workings. My route, Aberystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Cwmystwyth, Elan Valley, Rhayader, then back on the A44 to Oxford.
Focal lengtt 40mm and the surface is equally sharp where ever I look at the picture...
John Prior: Thanks Pekka, this was shot with my standard zoom, a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 XR Di LD. I am knocked out by its great performance on my full frame Sony and a third of the price of the Zeiss 24-70mm option.
Wonderful photo.
There are places in Andalucia (Spain) that look just like this.
John Prior: Thanks Sheila, yes I can see that.
Oh my! This is so beautiful. I love everything about it.
John Prior: Thank you Mary.
Looks very remote indeed!! Must have been hard work, mining there
John Prior: Thanks Marion, Yes indeed but I expect people were use to hard life's then and took it in their stride.
I rwelly like this in the wilds of Wales shot John, there is a lot of abandoned places like this about there.
John Prior: Thanks Brian, yes I love Wales for all the echoes from the past.
As Brian states..We have them here in Wales..Abandoned stone quarries.. This shot shows it well John.
John Prior: Thanks Ron, although this is an old mining area riddled with tunnels not quarries.
You are not to far away from where I live!Very good composition with the stream in the foreground smile
John Prior: Thanks Linda, and a very fine area to live, first got to know the area when my son was at Uni in Abber.
Fine picture John
John Prior: Many thanks Bill.

I like the grasses along the water.
John Prior: Thanks Sherri, it's a great place, but hard to find a lot of contrast in pictures.
